Moai Heads: Increase boat speed, thus increasing the frequency of trades happening Offshore offices (ideally 5): Increases the export prices Please note that they will only be visible once the trade routes get cycled after a few months. You need the following buildings on the highest budget:Ĭustoms Office: This is the key for flippingĮmbassy: Use it to continously grow your standing with all Superpowers to gain cheap trade routes - don't forget to Praise them every now and then.ĭocks - as many as possible! Each Dock will schedule an individual delivery, thus increasing the rate at which you earn money.Ĭyber Operations Center: Use Market Manipulation to generate profitable routes. In the end, you will see that every ship basically brings you money since it imports something for a price below market value but at the same time exports the same item for market value or above, yielding the delta as profit. If you find a profitable export route for the same product, even better! Since the quantities a ship imports are limited, try to go with items with a high cost per quantity. The idea is to import products lower than market price. For Xbox One gamers who missed out on the previous releases, however, this console version is still a great way to satisfy their mustache-twirling delusions of grandeur.I noticed that as soon as you got a set of buildings, you basically don't need any industry but can soley rely on trade for income. Granted, folks who already have the PC version won’t really have reason to give this one a shot. You have a lot of options iwth how to shape your economy, for example, whether it be a cutting edge technology-based country or one that’s almost completely reliant on tourism. Overall, though, Tropico 5: Penultimate Edition captures the enjoyment of its PC predecessor, including its irreverent humor and engaging simulation mechanics. Combat could also be better as it would have been nice to have more control options to better direct your troops during fights. Even for veterans, Tropico 5’s user interface could be a bit more streamlined, an issue that becomes even more noticeable with the gamepad controls. As such, I wish the tutorial was a bit more thorough for newcomers. The game doesn’t do much hand holding and the number of options and actions to keep track of can be overwhelming. One gripe I had with the PC version that extends to the Penultimate Edition is how the tutorial isn’t as robust as it can be for new players. Thankfully, it also includes all the extra DLC such as The Big Cheese and Hostile Takeover. ![]() ![]() It adds five new exclusive maps to help freshen things up but for the most part, the game faithfully follows the PC experience. As someone who has played and thoroughly enjoyed the PC version - I gave it a 4 out of 5 when it first came out - the Penultimate Edition is pretty much akin to taking the same test again. Then again, indulging in some time-tested "strategery" is also what makes games such as “Tropico 5: Penultimate Edition” for the Xbox One a fun exercise. Most of the time, however, you’re working on the political equivalent of homework as you decide seemingly mundane things like whether to plant cotton over the more obvious-sounding bananas to kick start your fledgling nation. Yes, you get members of your dynasty to parade around in a military outfit decked with fancy, shiny medals should you so choose.
